While many coastal communities throughout California have been inundated with unseen investors seeking to turn a quick profit, this property remains in the hands of a family that has been a fixture in Carlsbad since 1942. That's when Natalie and Veblen Vermilyea brought their five daughters to California from Omaha, Nebraska. 

Natalie was Carlsbad's first city employee, later becoming the city's first lady of law enforcement—quite literally; she was the first female officer in the city's police department. She and "Veb" raised eight children in the quiet seaside community as the city grew up around them.  "C-Bad," as it's known to the locals, has always been a special place to our family.

Four generations of Vermilyeas still visit the property regularly. They pour their hearts into making sure the property continues to bring families together: for adventure, or just to unwind.
